The Kalmak'yr Open Pit.   A panoramic view of the 3.75 x 2 km Kal'makyr open pit at Almalyk, the lowest bench of which is now 600 m below the peak of the original hill above the deposit.   The group was taken to the lookout to obtain an overview of the distribution of ore and host intrusives to the porphyry Cu-Au deposit and the locations that had been visited.   Photograph by Mike Porter
