At the Igarape Bahia operation
At the Igarape Bahia operation.   The group walked down through the weathering profile of the Acampamento Norte Pit on the northern margin of the long, arcuate, Igarape Bahia lateritic gold ore deposit to study the oxidised upper portions of the steeply plunging Alemão IOCG breccia-sulphide orebody.   Alemão forms the down plunge, un-weathered continuation of a section of the zone of mineralisation that was lateritised to form the Igarape Bahia deposit.   Gold mining was terminated at the base of the saprolite in the transition to the fresh sulphides.
