[Tour Group at Antucoya]
With Antofagasta Minerals geologists overlooking the Antucoya pit. Gonzalo Mendoza, Geology Superintendent at Antucoya (centre) discusses the geology of the deposit with the group.       Images provided by, and reproduced with the permission of Aquiles Gonzalez of Antofagasta Minerals.
After overnighting in Calama, the group had made an early start on the morning of Friday 28 April for the 2 hour drive to the Antofagasta Minerals Antucoya deposit, where they were given an excellent presentation, pit visit and the opportunity to study drill core from representative holes through the different lithologies alteration and mineralisation styles.
They departed in the mid-afternoon for Antofagasta where they spent the night. The Chilean section of the tour ended next morning on check-out from their hotel in Antofagasta, and the group went their separate ways.
