Porter GeoConsultancy has designed a geological tour to visit a selection of the most significant porphyry Cu-Mo, Cu-Mo-Zn, Cu-Au and Au systems and provinces, from Jurassic to Pliocene in age and from Chile to Colombia, including 'classic' porphyry, porphyry-skarn, porphyry-breccia and porphyry-epithermal deposits, and supergene derivatives. Participants may take any 3 or more days, up to the full tour.

This tour was originally designed to be a single course in April-May 2017. However, due in part to the length of the program, and to other late weather related and political developments that precluded some deposits in Peru and Colombia being visited in 2017, it was decided to split the tour into two. Only the Chilean segment was completed in 2017, with the remainder being deferred to 2018, as follows:

Andean Porphyries 2017, between Sunday 23 and Saturday 29 April, which included the four deposits in the Central Andes of Chile, namely:     • Rio Blanco-Andina,   • Collahuasi,   • Chuquicamata   and   • Antucoya.     Successfully completed.

Andean Porphyries 2018 - because of the substantial interest in the tour, consideration is being given to rescheduling the remainder of the program in Peru, Ecuador and Colombia to June 2018, if the mines/projects involved (or alternatives) agree when asked.
