  CONTENTS - Regions and deposits to be visited
Andean Porphyries 2017 will provide a comprehensive overview of the scope and variability of the occurrence of 'porphyry related' deposits, and their common and contrasting characteristics.   It will include:
  • each of the styles of porphyry related deposits & commodity groupings,
    including 'classic' porphyry, porphyry-breccia, porphyry-skarn, porphyry-
    epithermal & supergene deposits  of  Cu-Mo±Zn±Au, Cu-Au & Au±Cu,
  • the  three differing, distinct and laterally contiguous, geotectonic zones
    that host significant porphyry mineralisation in the Andean Orogen,
    the northern, Peruvian and central Andes,
  • a representative selection of deposits,   from south-central Chile in the
    south, to Colombia in the north,
  • deposits spread across the principal temporal clusters of emplacement,
from Jurassic to Miocene/Pliocene.

The tour will be split into two parts, the first from central Chile to southern Peru, the second from central Peru, through Ecuador to Colombia, punctuated by a 3 day break for those wishing to attend the  proEXPLO 2017  conference in Lima from 8 to 10 May. This conference is to address Andean metallogeny, geology and exploration, and the main ore deposits located in Peru and the region.
Participants may take any 3 or more days, up to the full tour, as suits their budget, availability and interest.

 Central Andes
    Rio Blanco/Andina - Miocene/Pliocene breccia/porphyry Cu-Mo, Chile
    Collahuasi - Eocene to Oligocene porphyry Cu-Mo, northern Chile
    Chuquicamata - Eocene to Oligocene porphyry Cu-Mo, northern Chile
    Antucoya  - Cretaceous porphyry Cu, Chile
    Cerro Verde - Paleocene to Eocene porphyry Cu-Mo, Peru
    Las Bambas - Eocene to Oligocene porphyry/skarn Cu-Au-Mo, Peru
   Peruvian Andes
      Antamina - Miocene porphyry/skarn Cu-Zn-Mo-Ag, Peru
      Yanacocha - Miocene porphyry/lithocap/epithermal Au-Cu, Peru
      Cerro Corona - Miocene porphyry Au-Cu, Peru
      La Granja - Miocene porphyry Cu-Mo, Peru
   Northern Andes
      Mirador  To be confirmed - Jurassic porphyry Cu-Au-Ag, Ecuador
      La Colosa - Miocene porphyry Au, Colombia

Requests have been submitted for visits to all of the selected deposits. Those shown as "To be confirmed" are currently under consideration by the companies involved, who are yet to give formal approval. If any are refused, alternatives will be sought.
