The Silidor late orogenic, pluton hosted gold bearing quartz vein deposit is located within the Rouyn-Noranda district of the Archaean Abitibi Belt in the Superior Craton, Quebec, Canada.   It is just 4 km due west of the gold rich Horne volcanic hosted massive sulphide Cu-Zn mine.

The deposit is hosted by the (probable) 2700 ±2 Ma Powell Pluton, a shallowly east dipping, 1 km thick sill within the Blake River Group volcanic sequence that hosts the Noranda district volcanic hosted massive sulphide deposits.   The Powell Pluton is composed of the following, from oldest to youngest, granodiorite, tonalitic hybrid rocks, trondhjemite, tonalitic breccia and diorite dykes.   The Pluton is bounded by two ENE trending faults, the Beauchastel Fault to the north and the Horne Fault to the south.

The mineralised zone comprises white, grey and smoky vein quartz, beige mineralised trondhjemite and green carbonate-sericite-fuchsite breccia that resulted from shearing and metasomatism of an early NW-SE diorite dyke.

The lode is enveloped by red hematite altered trondhjemite.

The mineralised zone is 900 m in length, with an average thickness of 3.5 m and vertical extent of 900 m.   It dips at 50 to 70° NE and strikes north-west, parallel and just to the northeast of the Smokey Creek Fault.

The deposit is the result of several vein filling events which occured during the evolution of strike-slip fauting and reverse faulting regimes.

The Silidor deposit was discovered in 1985 and mined out from 1990 to 1997 to produce:
2.95 Mt @ 5.1 g/t Au for 15 tonnes of Au in production and remaining reserves.
